The Vicar of Dibley

I never watched this show, though now I regret it. I randomly caught the finale of the series, in which the very overweight woman vicar (played by top Brit comedian Dawn French) and a super-gorgeous newcomer to town (played by super gorgeous Richard Armitage) fall in love at first sight. It's unbelievably rare to get a romance like this on tv, even in a comedy. As Chef Ramsey might say: Lovely, my darling.

I completely agree. I think it's interesting to study the way the UK tends to promote greater size acceptance than the US. There are a couple really great plus size clothing lines that are very fashion forward that are from the UK. Also, stars admit more of their crazy dieting tactics to UK mags than they do to the US.

To sum up, in the US, you have to be skinny and pretend you don't diet. If you're in the UK you can be skinny and honest about how you got that way OR you can be a stylish fat/normal lady.

Is there anyone out there who has spent time in the UK and can confirm or deny this?
