QUOTE OF THE NOW

"Our life evokes our character. You find out more about yourself as you go on. That's why it's good to be able to put yourself in situations that will evoke your higher nature rather than your lower. 'Lead us not into temptation.'" Joseph Campbell

Fave romance of 2013

Well it has to be Doctor Who and River Song. I'm really impressed the show managed to create a match for the famously bachelored doc. The romance was modeled on The Time Traveler's Wife... except, you know, better.

Honorable Mentions

Murdoch and Dr Ogden from Murdoch Mysteries
The writers have done everything to keep them apart. Enough already!

Jess and Nick on New Girl
Yay! The writers didn't drag this out for 5 years! And their first kiss was WOW.

Edith and Michael on Downton Abbey
Oh please let her keep this one.

Hoped for in 2014: Juliette and Avery on Nashville
She's a spoiled brat. He's a reformed spoiled brat. They'd be good for each other. Now how do we break off his relationship with Scarlett without him being an asshole??

Fave person in 2013: Honk honk!

I loved re-reading Harpo Marx (of the Marx Brothers's) autobiography. He was my favorite kind of person--funny, kind, good natured, loved animals. The early part of the book is a great portrait of growing up poor in New York with his crazy brothers, a mother determined to get her boys on the stage, and their father the brilliant cook and terrible tailor.

The latter part of the book is made entertaining by his interactions with the Algonquin Round Table gang, especially with his bestie Alexander Woolcott: who was clever, sarcastic, sometimes mean, and very big hearted. The combo of Harpo and Woolcott is wonderful.

Best story: Getting a loan from a gambling boss during the 1929 crash by playing pinchie-winchie.

4 months to go

So many love stories and songs are youthful ones; this is one for the couples who've been through some shit. ;-)

I can't believe the high notes these guys had to hit.

Look at this face
I know the years are showing
Look at this life
I still don't know where it's going

I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know

Look at these eyes
They've never see what matters
Look at these dreams
So beaten and so battered

I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know

So many questions
Still left unanswered
So much I've never broken through
And when I feel you near me
Sometimes I see so clearly
The only truth I've ever known
Is me and you

Look at this man
So blessed with inspiration
Look at this soul
Still searching for salvation

I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know

I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know

I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know.
