I only ever knew the Bowie-Tina duet of this song, which is lovely. I don't think I've ever seen a bad Tina Turner duet, she's so dynamic.


I'd never heard their recorded version, from his album. I think the live version is much better.



And I'd never sought out the original. It's pretty too.

Fave Childhood Songs: The empathetic child

Just saw a Dr Hook song on a friend's blog, which reminded me of the song "When You're in Love With a Beautiful Woman." Was one of my favorite songs when I was in grade 2 or 3.

I love looking back at fave childhood songs, cause they're so random and mysterious. Okay, not totally random--they came from my parents' record collections after all. But my mother owned A LOT of records, so how I alighted on one song over another, I don't know. I recently read an article about a study that ties empathy in with enjoyment of "easy listening" type music, so I'm glad to see I was starting out life on the right note.



Love the maracas. If you saw this band photo would you guess this was a disco band? The 70s were a mysterious time.

Rey's Theme (Star Wars)

This was the only bit of "iconic" music that stood out for me in the new movie. Basically my biggest disappointments were with the soundtrack and the costuming.
