"Our life evokes our character. You find out more about yourself as you go on. That's why it's good to be able to put yourself in situations that will evoke your higher nature rather than your lower. 'Lead us not into temptation.'" Joseph Campbell

Barbie Gaga & a Sax
A bit of frivolity today, methinks. After buying her first two albums I suspect I like Gaga more than I like her music, but this "Edge of Glory" song I came across is cute (see end of post). It's got a sax solo, which these days is about as daring as anything she's worn.
I pretty much fell of writing about music this year, what with being Less Than Employed and all. When my income is troubled I try to keep away from iTunes, it's a dangerous place for me.
I resisted anything Gaga up until a few short months ago when, quite by accident I saw a video of her singing 'paparazzi' in a toned-down (for her) outfit sitting at a piano. Just her and the piano. I turned my preconceived notions off and really listened.
The woman can play piano with the best of them, and when she lets it go, she can really sing. It's not my style of music, but she impressed me no end.
Maybe in a few years when someone younger comes along to fill her the outre shoes, she will create a 'retrospective' or an 'unplugged' version of herself and will produce some stuff I'll really like. I hope so.
I had 'heard' all the news bites on Lady Gaga and had not a clue about her other than she wore meat to an engagement and was outrageous.
When I saw her perform one night on a program I was watching I was impressed. She is outrageos and maybe over the top, just a tich (ahaha). But I like her style, her confidence, I have even enjoyed the few songs that I've heard her sing.
Lady Goga chooses to show us she's got lots of baggage, but she never hurts anybody with or because of it; instead she's there for anyone she feels might need it. So this is a very good follow-up to yesterday's post I think.
It sort of answers my question [unposted] to yesterday: How do we carry on when there are so many of those others who are pretending they don't have issues -- even though they're obvious and not uncommon -- and then attack those of us showing up as we are and being genuine.
Gaga is always there with courage ablazing! So I guess there's your answer: Take heart, have courage, know what really matters to you and go forth, head held high. Let them do what they're going to do; they will anyway.
You chose a great video, a good song. I believe this was the last video Clarence Clemons recorded, so it's a nice choice for that reason also.
Thanks Nancy for bringing some heavy-deeps to my Gaga post ;-) Though I think there's always some inherent depth in people who aren't afraid to wear their crazy on their sleeve.
I hadn't realized it was Clarence Clemens--no wonder it sounded so E Street and 80s at times. I was thinking exactly of him!
