I just read this article about Sienna Miller's battle against Rupert Murdoch's supremely scuzzy paper that tapped her and her people's phones for a couple years, and how her case got "the first formal admission before a judge by News International [the parent company] of its role in the phone-hacking scandal." Here's what would make it an aces movie or book:
(1) It has ethical significance for society--that News of the World's been pulling this shit for years, on possibly up to 7000 people. This includes not just the celebrities, but their friends and employees. People get pissed enough over government wire-tapping--how do you feel about Rupert Murdoch flunky's detective?
(2) People often argue that tabloid exposure is the price you pay for going into the entertainment industry; but men and women like Miller pay this awful price because they date someone famous. That's ridiculous. Good for people like Miller for going after the sharks. And Murdoch is one huge fucking shark. Don't let me get too high on the soapbox, though. Miller's always wanted to be an actor and she hilariously admits that dating Law helped her (see quote further down.) But no one wants to be chased in cars. That's scary shit.
(3) Sienna Miller went after News of the World after her fiancé Jude Law was found to be having an affair with the nanny. So... because she dated this guy and got engaged to him, her privacy was destroyed, she had to switch phones numerous times, people around her had their phones tapped, she became paranoid, didn't know if her phone was tapped or if someone close to her was betraying her... and then the guy who brought this nightmare upon her, cheated on her. And instead of rolling over and playing dead she took the tabloid motherfuckers to court.
(4) Rupert Murdoch = baddie. How easy is that? Plus sleazy editor and sleazy P.I.? Almost too cliché, they'd have to be worked over a bit. (Jeffrey Archer used him in The Fourth Estate, except I think he was the good guy. ...Well Archer's a scumbag anyway lol.)
(5) Finally, this would make a good movie because she said this: "I definitely contemplated not doing it, because it's an incredibly powerful thing to take on, and to be a person on your own doing it, it's pretty scary. But I don't regret it. All the legal action I've taken against newspapers has had a massively positive effect on my life and achieved exactly what I wanted which is privacy and non-harassment... I've bought my freedom."
There now. You'd have a nice movie about a B-level, pretty-girl actor coming into her own.
EX-MODEL
"Men's traditional view of sexiness isn't sexy. It shouldn't be so obvious: push-up bras and miniskirts. Sexiness, to me, is when people are comfortable with themselves."
B-LEVEL ACTOR
"I'm very happy about (the sudden fame) to be really honest! But I think it's as a result of being scrutinized because of the relationship that I'm in. If it was because of the work, it would be more justified."
ASS KICKING PROTECTOR OF CELL PHONES
"Try this on for size, boys."

Good for her. What scumbags the damn press are to think they have a right to do that kind of @#$%^&.
It's kinda nice when some actress who you couldn't distinguish from a hole in the wall, suddenly takes on a personality.
