QUOTE OF THE NOW

"Our life evokes our character. You find out more about yourself as you go on. That's why it's good to be able to put yourself in situations that will evoke your higher nature rather than your lower. 'Lead us not into temptation.'" Joseph Campbell

12 Days of 2012 - 4 - Characters!

Entertainment enjoyed this year: Character

Every book or movie I loved this year had great characters, cause I don't enjoy something otherwise. But these were the ones where character was the top consideration, over humor, romance, etc.

Beginners Charming tale of a young man, and his father's new lease on life as a gay man.

Bran Nue Day A musical about an Australian Aboriginal kid running away from school. Quite silly and fun.

Special Exits A memoir about the author's father and step-mother. A sweet, touching portrait of aging.

Jeeves and Wooster I rewatch some of this every year. Cheers me.

Michael Tuesdays & Thursdays One of those brilliant little shows that didn't get its audience. Sweet, funny relationship between a therapist and anxiety patient.

Page by Paige Beautifully illustrated graphic novel for teens, about an artist moving to a new city.

The Pursuit of Love Mitford's first memoir about her nutty cousins.

The Miracle Worker One of those movies I'll watch anytime it's on. So funny.

Sherlock I wasn't as blown away with this as everyone else, but still an excellent series.

The Voice Season 2 A better talent show than Idol, but also a much more entertaining judging panel, with heroes, villains and conflict.

I don't know all of these but love J&W, enjoyed Sherlock the few times I watched, and sat glued to the telly every Monday and Tuesday for The Voice. Sad it's over. : (

I like J&W - probably discovered it on your blog.

I've seen Sherlock in the que and wondered if it was good. I might have to give it a go.

@Robena - I didn't watch this latest season... I have trouble keeping up with reality shows that are on more than once per year. But I'll have to try Am idol just for the judges...

@Judie - It's by the same Dr Who writer whom everyone's been raving about, from the past few seasons. It's well done. Sherlock's an asshole, Watson is funny. As should be. ;-)
